Chinatown The largest Chinatown outside of Asia. The first Chinese immigrants arrived in San Francisco in 1848 and by the Gold Rush, Chinatown was a vibrant mercantile district. Today Chinatown is a colorful and fascinating shopping and dining experience.
Financial District & North Beach No corner in San Francisco displays the city's rich history better than the intersection of Kearny St. and Columbus Ave. It is where the financial district, with its brokerage firms, banks and stock exchange, come together with the cafe society of North Beach. The Transamerica Pyramid and the Sentinel building with its Cafe Niebaum-Coppola display the quirky essence of San Francisco architecture. North Beach, home to Italian immigrants and the Beat generation, is the place to hang out in a coffeehouse or dine at some of the best restaurants in San Francisco.
